RESEARCHING AN INTERIOR DESIGNER BEFORE HIRING

There are a number of considerations that come into play when you’re in the process of selecting the right interior designer in Dubai for your project. We’ve detailed a few below to help make your decision a little easier!

1. SET A BUDGET

Write a list of the rooms or furniture items you know you’ll need assistance with. If you’ve renovated before you’ll have a rough idea of the cost of things. If not, ask your trades for advice. Most interior designers will have a budget guideline document they can share with you to help set a realistic budget for your furniture. Alternatively, have a look at some retailers you like for price guides. For example, if you love shopping at West Elm or Freedom, you’ll have an idea of the budget you’ll need to allocate to furniture pieces based on their product prices.

2. RESEARCH DESIGNERS

You wouldn’t go on a date before doing a bit of background research first 😉 So when hiring a designer, the same rules apply!  Do a google search of designers in your area by searching terms like “Interior Designers in Dubai, UAE”. Search through the Google Map for a list of designers near you to research their portfolio, service offering, service fees, design philosophy and more. Ask around for referrals too, ask neighbors, friends and trusted trades people who may have used a designer in the past. Most designers main source of lead generation is Word of Mouth so they’ll be used to being referred work by their trades, previous clients or friends of clients. You can also search on directories such as Houzz or DIA for a list of designers to research. And don’t forget to read their reviews! Most designers will have a number of good Google Reviews showing you insight into what their previous clients benefited from when working with them.

3. REVIEW PORTFOLIOS

Look closely at the interior designers portfolio on their website and also their Instagram page to get a better idea of what sort of interior design styles they specialise in. Look for a wide range of styles and hone in on the details to make sure their design style aligns with what you’re aiming to achieve.

4. GET ON THE PHONE

Call up a short list of designers to speak to them or their team directly.
